Lore Letter 023
Brother and sister meet the place of miracles.
Author’s note:
Sorry I’ve been MIA! I’ve missed you. In my defense, I’ve been spending all of my limited free time reading, because I set the wild goal of 100 books in 2026 and if I don’t get to 25 by the end of Q1 I might melt like the Wicked Witch. Reading is kind of the same as writing when you think about it…
Anyway, because I haven’t been writing, I’m cheating (again) and giving you the first chunk of my novel manuscript in lieu of something new. I put this bad boy in the drawer after receiving some very good and thorough feedback last year, and I’m excited to get back in the saddle with fresh eyes. Spring cleaning, or whatever. I’m not a superstitious person, but there’s something spooky to me about sharing something so personal to a big audience before it’s on a shelf, so: This one’s for the paid subscribers. If you want to get in on that, now’s a good time. Enjoy!
They saw the sign one day in late summer, nearly blinded by the sun glinting through the windshield: Ten Buck: Where you can live your best life! Almost as quickly as it came, it went, disappearing into the static of the highway as they descended into the valley.
